UMAI

By Alex Abramov

In the heart of Jaffa, just steps from the sea, lies UMAI –
an intimate and refined culinary space led by chef Alex Abramov.

UMAI (a Japanese slang word meaning “delicious” or “skilled”) offers a unique and personal dining experience, blending the depth of traditional Japanese cuisine with contemporary culinary techniques and a distinctly local perspective.

After years of living and working in Japan and other parts of Asia, where she opened Japanese eateries, developed menus, and trained in the art of Japanese wagyu butchery, chef Abramov returned to Israel to create something truly her own.

The space, inspired by the aesthetics and spirit of Japan, offers a calm and thoughtfully designed environment, located just off the boardwalk of Midron Park and the shores of the ancient port city.
UMAI hosts up to 22 guests per evening, across three signature formats:

Kaiseki Evenings
Izakaya Nights
Private Events
